Why GMX asks for a phone number

GMX asks for a phone number during sign-up. A one-time number gets you through that step, so you share your personal number only where it is really needed.

Good to know

A number is for one verification. If GMX sends a new code to it later, you will not see it.
If you will use the account for a long time, add your own contact details in the GMX settings after setup.
Following the GMX rules is up to you; the number only keeps your own number private.
